The Supreme Court of Georgia heard two cases at Pierce County High School on October 26.

The Supreme Court of Georgia held oral arguments at Pierce County High School on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023.

It is tradition for the Court to hold special sessions at various locations around the state for the purpose of making the Court’s business and the judicial process more accessible to the public. While this is not the first time the Court has visited south Georgia, it is the first time the court has held oral arguments in the Waycross Judicial Circuit. The Waycross Judicial Circuit serves Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Coffee, Pierce, and Ware counties in southeast Georgia.

You may request to transfer your child to another public school in the Pierce County School System...

To the Parents or Guardians of Pierce County School Students:

As the parent or guardian of a student currently enrolled in our school district, this is to notify you that under a state law you may request to transfer your child to another public school in the Pierce County School System for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

As a parent or guardian, you may request to have your child transferred to another public school within your school district of residence as long as the school district has determined that there is available classroom space at the school after all assigned students have been enrolled.  Please keep in mind that if you choose to transfer your child to another school in the district, the law requires you to assume all costs and responsibilities related to the transportation of your child to and from the school as long as your child remains at that school.

To process the request, parents/guardians must complete and submit a Transfer Request Form. These forms may be downloaded here or picked up at the Pierce County Board of Education, 834 E. Main Street.  Request for transfers will not be accepted after the close of business on May 1, 2023.

Transfer requests will be reviewed and approved or denied on a first come, first served basis.  In the event a particular school has available space and the number of transfer requests exceeds the remaining available capacity, no more transfers will be accepted at that school. Parents will be notified no later than June 1, 2023 of the status of their transfer request by the receiving school. Available space will be reevaluated at the end of the first week of school.  If enrollment numbers change and space becomes available, you may reactivate your transfer request.

If you have questions regarding this, please contact the superintendent’s office 912-449-2044.
