During the summer of 2008, the transportation department along with key administrative personnel will be restructering all school bus routes according to bus attendance zones. This restructering will allow us to seperate elementary students from middle/high school student populations therefore eliminating long bus commutes and certain discipline concerns in our fleet.
With the student in mind, several busses in the Blackshear bus attendance zone were seperated this past year which eliminated over 1 hour ride times with our busses. Because of the success of this test pilot and with the success of adjacent counties with this program, the board inacted bus attendance zones. This means that designated busses will service particular schools which have been pre determined to service certain areas of the county; no more county-criss crossing of our fleet, long bus commutes, and mixing of elementary and secondary students on our busses. When the students leave the elementary schools in the afternoon, no more cross city trips to Pierce Middle or the High School. Your child will be transported directly home from his/her school of choice.
Help us as we help you in offering safe, reliable bus transportation for the next school year :)
